Who Are We
Courtown Riverchapel Community Development Group (CRCDG) is a registered charity in Ireland (Registered Charity Number 20043414), previously known as Courtown Community Council. We are a volunteer-led, not-for-profit organisation serving the people of Courtown, Riverchapel and their surrounding areas in Co. Wexford.
Our Mission
Our mission is to involve the people of Courtown and Riverchapel in promoting the recreational, environmental, educational, cultural and economic welfare of the whole community. We work to develop and protect our natural environment so that Courtown remains a healthy, sustainable and welcoming place — both for the people who live here and for those who come to visit.
What We Do
As a registered charity, we lead and support a wide range of community, environmental and cultural initiatives, including:
Maintaining and enhancing Courtown village and its surrounding green spaces
Restoring biodiversity through rewilding and native tree planting in the Natural Heritage Area
Protecting our coastline through the Clean Water Campaign and citizen-science coastal surveys with Coast Watch Ireland
Running a plastic-free campaign and developing a sustainable circular economy plan with local community groups
Maintaining local walking trails and the Kate Kos murals
Supporting community wellbeing through our Alzheimer's group and fundraising walk, and crime-prevention evenings
Hosting year-round community events including woodland walks, bat walks, foraging walks and art workshops
Who We Support
Our work benefits the whole community residents and visitors alike with a particular focus on arts and culture, heritage, environmental protection and conservation, health and wellbeing, and the wider voluntary and community sector.
Our dedicated team of volunteers
Linda Sinnott
Linda has lived and worked in Courtown/Riverchapel all her life. She worked in her local family business during the 80s and 90s. Over the years, Linda was involved with Courtown Tidy Towns and Courtown Failte Festival. She was a founding member of Courtown Community Council and served on that committee up until 2003. In recent years, Linda was involved with Riverchapel Tidy Towns before re-joining Courtown Community Council in September 2019. Linda is also a volunteer with The Irish Coastguard, Courtown/Arklow Unit. Linda is currently self-employed and living in Riverchapel.

Valerie Boylan
Treasurer & Fundraising LeadValerie moved down from Dublin 20 years ago. Her grandmother was from Courtown and was an organist in Ardamine Church for many years until she retired. Valerie wanted to get involved in the community and joined the Courtown Community Council as a member. She was also involved in setting up the Junior Youth Club in Riverchapel and was a volunteer leader there. She is currently involved in Riverchapel Community Complex Ltd where she serves as the Director's Secretary. Valerie lives in Riverchapel and for the past 5 years, she has worked as a school secretary in a Community National School-based in Oulart, Co.Wexford.
Clair has been living in the area for the past 12 years. Originally from Gorey, she moved to Courtown from London in 2008. She is an experienced teacher and has a real passion for working with young people. Clair is a published author and speaker on a positive mindset and empowerment. She is excited to get involved in the local community to work towards making a real positive difference in the area..
Secretary & Education LeadClair Swinburne
Seán has lived in Riverchapel since 2005 and grew up in Seán has lived and grown up in Riverchapel since 2005. Seán is currently pursuing their undergraduate degree at Trinity College Dublin, and served in 2025 as the President of Trinity College Dublin Students Union. They have also been regularly involved with advocacy groups in the North Wexford area, with a particular focus on the environment & public transport, among other issues. Seán is also the Vice-Chair of the Wicklow-Wexford branch of the Social Democrats.
In their personal time Seán is accomplished in coastal rowing, and now shares their experience with people from all over North Wexford and South Wicklow, up in Arklow Rowing club.
TrusteeSeán Thim O'Leary
Lorraine’s family have lived in the district for generations, contributing to much of the local heritage through their carpentry and stonework. Today she runs her award-winning foraging & folklore walks in Courtown Woods. When she is not hiding amongst the trees she also sits on the board of Taste Wexford to promote the region’s food & farm experiences.
A proud environmentalist she is also an advocate for slow tourism and often works with charities and schools to encourage a love of nature
